Our resources aim to highlight the multilingual nature of our local and global communities. By following the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, we show that languages are everywhere and connect to all subject areas. Our curiosity-driven approach allows learners to explore for themselves, either in class or at home. All our resources are available free of charge in both English and Welsh.

We take a curiosity-driven approach to help each and every learner find their intrinsic motivation for language learning. You don’t need to know a language to explore our resources, they will give you a taste of a variety of new and exciting languages to discover. From 2020 to 2021, MFL Mentoring ran events tailored to post-16 learners with the aim to support their learning during lockdown and offer them an insight into language study at university. The project ran for three cycles, offering 22 weeks of events and two language festivals. Although the events are no longer running, many were recorded and can be accessed by following the links below. The links are also available in Welsh.

Spotlight On...
Spotlight On...
Each resource spotlights a specific topic in the French, German, and Spanish GCSE to help learners improve their language skills and intercultural understanding. The topics intentionally highlight diverse experiences and social issues, following the principles of the Curriculum for Wales by encouraging learners to become ethical and informed citizens of Wales and the world. Each resource includes an interactive video and a worksheet, with key vocabulary, translation tasks, and grammar points. All resources are also available in Welsh.

In 2020-21, MFL Mentoring ran two festivals to support post-16 learners to discover more about studying languages at university. The festivals followed particular themes: representing diverse experiences and linking languages to other subjects. Although they are no longer running, many of the talks were recorded and can be accessed by following the links below. The links are also available in Welsh.
Language Tasters
Language Tasters
Our Language Tasters offer an in-depth exploration of a specific language or dialect. They include activities on basic words and phrases, fun language facts interspersed with information about food cultures, geography, traditions and festivals. Each taster aims to make languages accessible to all and to provide a window into diverse cultures around the world. All our resources are available free of charge in both English and Welsh.
Wander the World
Wander the World
Our Wander the World resources are designed to support year 7 learners as they transition from primary to secondary school. Each bite-sized resource offers a look at a particular object, person or topic within a specific country. Language is interspersed within culture to provide a tangible context for language learning. These resources can also be built upon by using our language tasters which offer a more in-depth exploration of a specific language or dialect. All our resources are available free of charge in both English and Welsh.
University Tours
University Tours
Our University Tours are designed to raise aspirations for Higher Education and help learners envisage a place for themselves at university. Each resource follows a student mentor through a day at university, providing a virtual tour of the university campus and a look at the many ways that languages can be studied at degree level. All our resources are available free of charge in both English and Welsh.
