Unlocking New Skills and Connections: My take on the MFL Mentor Training Weekend🚀

By Milan James

I recently had the privilege of attending a two-day training session with MFL Mentoring 🎉and it was an incredibly enriching experience that left a lasting impact on me. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the positive energy in the room. Meeting a diverse group of people who shared a similar enthusiasm and mindset was inspiring, and it created a strong sense of camaraderie among the participants. Everyone was eager to learn, share, and engage, making the training both enjoyable and valuable.

The training itself was exceptionally well-organized 🤯and filled with useful content. Every session was fully packed with relevant information, but it never felt overwhelming. The ice-breaking activities were a highlight—they were designed to foster open communication and teamwork from the start, allowing us to quickly bond with each other. These activities also reinforced the importance of building relationships, a crucial skill I’ve developed through MFL Mentoring. The ability to connect with others, create a supportive environment, and encourage participation are now core qualities I value and apply in both personal and professional settings

Throughout the training, we covered a variety of essential topics, with a strong focus on classroom management, coordination, and understanding cultural dynamics. One of the key skills I’ve enhanced is my ability to manage and organize a group, ensuring that different needs are met while maintaining a productive and inclusive learning atmosphere. The sessions on safeguarding were particularly insightful, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for students. I developed a deeper understanding of safeguarding protocols and how to identify potential risks, ensuring that I can now contribute to creating a secure and welcoming space for learning.

Another significant takeaway for me was the deep connection between language and culture, which was a central theme throughout the training. I learned how language goes beyond communication, serving as a bridge to cultural understanding and identity. This has helped me develop not only my linguistic skills but also my ability to foster cultural awareness in educational contexts, which is crucial for effective language teaching.

In summary, the MFL Mentoring training helped me grow in key areas such as relationship-building, classroom management, safeguarding, and cultural awareness. It has equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge that I am excited to apply in my future endeavours.
